Dear Krachel, 🙂

Loving the new podcasts. Great job growing and keeping it interesting! You are very inspirational. Wish I could report I was doing that well; unfortunately, that isn’t the case. I’m still jobless. I have made internal progress though. I have determined I want to work in some sort of learning environment (preschool, k-12, university, computer training, etc). My problem is that I don’t necessarily want to be a teacher. I want to be some type of Educational/Instructional Coach. I have a degree in Business – Management Information Systems and I’ve worked in Instructional Design and eLearning in the past for government and corporate institutions. However, I did not like those environments. I was stuck behind a computer most all day with not a lot of communication/collaboration (which I need and value). I also never got to see if my product and training course/material ever helped anyone. I just turned in a deliverable and moved on to the next project. Because of that it was very unfulfilling for me. I have to know my work is meaningful and impacts other in a positive way. I’m a tribe member.

So, at the moment I subscribed to LinkedIn InLearning and have started taking their Instructional Design Path along with a couple other courses I’m interested in. I haven’t worked in those areas for many years so I need to brush up on the skills. I also just became a member of the parent STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) group for our school district. And I’ve been volunteering at the elementary school. So, I’m trying, but at the same time I feel discouraged and worried that it’s taking so long for me to get an actual paying job. I’m also worried that I’ll need a masters degree or higher plus a teaching certificate to get a job in the k-12 or college area. They seem to require more schooling than the government or corporate world. And I feel like the longer I’m out of the workforce, the harder it will be to get back in. Sorry for the rant, I guess I’m hoping for some guidance and encouragement to help keep me going. I always love hearing your feedback and opinions.

Thanks in advance!
